Doses - TESTOSTERONE CYPIONATE, TESTOSTERONE ENANTHATE, TESTOSTERONE PROPRIONATE

Dogs: Dog

For testosterone-responsive urinary incontinence (may be used with phenylpropanolamine):
a) Testosterone propionate: approximately 2 mg/kg IM or SQ 3 times per week.
Testosterone cypionate: 200 mg IM once per month. (LaBato 1988), (Polzin and Osborne 1985)
b) Testosterone propionate: 2.2 mg/kg IM q2-3 days.
Testosterone cypionate: 2.2 mg/kg IM once per month. (Moreau and Lappin 1989), (Chew, DiBartola, and Fenner 1986)

Cats: Cat

For testosterone-responsive urinary incontinence (may be used with phenylpropanolamine):
a) Testosterone propionate 5 - 10 mg IM (Barsanti and Finco 1986)

Cattle: Cattle

To produce an estrus-detector (teaser) animal (cull cows, heifers, steers):
a) Testosterone propionate 200 mg IM on day 1 and on days 4-9. On day 10, give 1 gram IM and attach a chinball marker and put with the breeding herd. To maintain the teasergive 1 gram booster every 10-14 days.
Alternatively, initially give testosterone enanthate 0.5 gram IM and 1.5 gram SQ(divided in two separate locations). After 4 days attach chinball marker and put in withbreeding herd. To maintain, give 0.5 - 0.75 gram SQ every 10-14 days. (Wolfe 1986)

Testosterone propionate (200 mg) is also available in combination with estradiolbenzoate (20 mg) as a growth promotant in beef cattle. Trade names include HEIFER-oid® (Bio-Ceutic) and Synovex-H® (Syntex); (Rx)

    Human-Approved Products:

    Testosterone Cypionate (in oil) for injection 50 mg/ml, 100 mg/ml, & 200 mg/ml in 1 & 10 mlvials. Available generically and in many proprietary labeled products. A commonly knowntrade name is Depo-Testosterone® (Upjohn); (Rx).
    Testosterone Enanthate (in oil) for injection 100 mg/ml and 200 mg/ml in 5 and 10 ml vials & 1ml syringes; Available generically and in many proprietary labeled products; (Rx)
    Testosterone Propionate Injection (in oil): 100 mg/ml in 10 ml vials 25 mg/ml, 50 mg/ml, & 100mg/ml in 10 ml and 30 ml vials; Available generically; (Rx)
    Testosterone products are now controlled substances (C-III).
