Doses - BLEOMYCIN SULFATE

Small Animals:
For squamous cel carcinomas, lymphomas and other carcinomas: 10 U/m2 IV or SubQ once daily for 3-4 doses, then 10 U/m2 every 7 days. Maximum accumulative dose: 200
U/m2. (Jacobs, Lumsden et al. 1992)
Monitoring Parameters - 1) Efficacy; 2) Pulmonary Toxicity: Obtain chest films, (baseline andon a regular basis¯in humans they are recommended q1-2 weeks); lung auscultation (dyspnea andfine rales are early signs of toxicity). Other pulmonary function tests are recommended in humans, but are unlikely to be available in veterinary medicine. 3) Blood chemistry (encompassing renal andhepatic function markers) and hematologic profiles (CBC) may be useful to monitor potential renal, hepatic and hematologic toxicities.
Client Information - Clients must be informed of the potential toxicities associated with therapyand urged to report any change in pulmonary function (e.g., shortness of breath, wheezing) immediately.
