The history of Stamen Animal Hospital begins in nineteenth century Eastern Europe. There, in a little Russian town a boy by the name of Harry Clarence Stamen was born. Fleeing religious persecution, he emigrated to the United Sates when he was only six years old. Whether his interest in working with animals grew from his homeland or while growing up in a rural Massachusetts town (Chelsea), is not clear. What is clear is Harry’s devotion to the veterinarian profession. Prior to enlisting with the US Army (it is not clear whether he was part of the Veterinary Corp. during the war), Harry worked as a cow tester.

Stamen Animal Hospital was founded in 1927 by Dr. Harry C. Stamen, DVM. As one of the oldest continuously operating veterinary practices in Westchester County, Stamen Animal Hospital’s fundamental mission remains the same: to provide the highest quality veterinary care in the treatment and prevention of disease in a compassionate and professional manner. For over eighty years the veterinarians and staff at Stamen Animal Hospital have provided all phases of care for your pet, from routine check-ups and nutrition guidance to the treatment of more advanced diseases and chronic conditions. S.J. I love the Staff at Stamen. The ladies in the front are friendly, accommodating and caring. The technicians are friendly and strong. You can feel the Doctors care about your pet and don’t recommend things that are not needed. Stamen also has great pricing. I highly recommend this veterinarian hospital.

They also have a groomer who comes by when yiu have your dog boarded. It's a one stop shop, grooming, board, and your pet always stays up to date on their shots and checks.

N.R. Very pleased with how well the doctors, nurses, and techs took care of my lethargic non-responsive 12 yr old male pit/boxer mix. I thought for sure we were going to lose him. Turns out he had pancreatitis and it could have been deadly.
