Doses - AMMONIUM CHLORIDE

Sheep: Sheep

For treatment of copper poisoning:
a) 100 mg with 1 gram sodium sulfate by mouth daily. (Debuf 1991)
b) 50 - 500 mg ammonium (or sodium) molybdate with 0.3 - 1 gm thiosulfate per day forup to 3 weeks. Whole blood transfusions may be required in some situations. (Buck1986)
c) 100 mg/head/day and sodium sulfate 1 gram/head/day for 30 days. Mix each with 2 mlof water and give orally. (McConnell and Hughey 1992)
d) 200 mg ammonium or sodium molybdate plus 500 mg of sodium thiosulfate given daily
PO for up to 3 weeks. (Thompson and Buck 1993a)

Note: Ammonium Molybdate can be obtained from various chemical supply houses, but there hasbeen some concern raised that the FDA will not allow molybdate salts to be used in food animals. Itis recommended to contact the FDA before treating for guidance when contemplating usingmolybdate.
