At Kindness Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to the maintenance of good health for your pet. We strive to provide the highest quality animal health facility to serve your pet's every health care need. We place a priority on the doctor-client relationship, and feel that this special partnership serves your pet best. We also believe that preventative medicine is the best medicine.

A Brief History of Kindness:

Kindness Animal Hospital was founded in 1956, making it one of the two oldest existing veterinary hospitals in Montgomery County. The hospital was originally located on Georgia Avenue just south of University Boulevard. In 1971, Kindness relocated to its current building at the corner or University Boulevard and Amherst Avenue. Over the years at this new location, many errant cars have found their way into the hospital's flower bed; in the 1990s, we even had one come through our waiting room window! The county has since erected a barrier to prevent such inappropriate parking.

For such an established practice, Kindess has had little doctor turnover. Dr. Carl W. Smith founded the hospital in 1956 and practiced here until retirement in 1982. Dr. Stuart M. King practiced here from 1967 to 1993. Dr. Marc S. Katz joined the practice in 1978 and became a partner 4 years later. Dr. Jeff Zolkiewicz joined the hospital in 1994 and became a partner 5 years later. In June 2007, Dr. Zolkiewicz became the owner of the practice.

J.P. We love Kindness, have been going there for many, many years. The Docs are wonderful, skilled, up on the latest treatments, as are the Techs. We currently see Dr. Zolkiewicz as our regular Vet, however they are all wonderful. They know our "Girls" well and treat them as if they are family. Kindness is so popular that you MUST book early.

S.P. My dog Olive has been taken care of by this animal hospital for the last 13 years, and they treat her like family. Always greeting the patient, doing everything to be gentle with her because in all those years, she’s only gotten more anxious being at the doctors (don’t we all?! ). They always make room to schedule her, which is the accessibility we all hope for. Dr. Z goes above and beyond, researching my dog’s specific/rare resistance to a popular med to find her another solution, among many scenarios. Their other vets as well, you always feel in good hands, we always do!

S.D.L.C.V. We love Kindness Animal Hospital. Our Shitzu Bichon has been receiving his pet care at this vet since he is 10 weeks of age. Well checks and sick visits. This vet stands up to his name! Seriously, they are kind, friendly, accommodating and so loving with the animals. Our dog is anxious and the staff knows how to ease his mind as much as possible. Definitely recommend Kindness Animal Hospital to the highest.

J.D. I love bringing my dog to Kindness Animal Hospital. I know they put kindness in their name, but I really cannot stress just how kind and loving they are to pets. My dog is an incredibly anxious and scared dog. When I bring her to kindness, they take their time with her, bring out the good treats and go above and beyond to try and make her feel comfortable. I never feel rushed and I get lots of opportunities to ask questions. It's the best vet. I highly recommend.

N.S. We got extremely lucky that Kindness was our neighborhood very when we moved here 9 years ago. Just like anywhere else, they've had a few doctors comes and go in that time, but each and every one of them has been excellent. We also love the rest of the staff, even if they do laugh at me when I have to carry my 100 pound dog in because he's not having it (lol). Highly recommend.

K.J. This is a really nice place to take your pet; it was our first visit. I love how relaxed Rex was. It takes him time to warm up to others. However, Dr. P was very personable and David won the heart of my grandpup- who was very nervous. Almost at the end of the appointment, Rex felt comfortable going with David to have blood work done - with a few treats of course- lol. Go here! Hurry. Run.
