Arden Shoreview Animal Hospital with 5 Vets located in Arden Hills, MN: AAHA-accredited, Board Certified doctors & hospital provide the finest care for your pet.

In 1968, Dr. William H. Sweeney began planning and designing Bloomington Veterinary Hospital. In 1970, he invited his brother, Dr. James A. Sweeney, to become a partner and take over the directorship of Bloomington Veterinary Hospital, while Dr. William H. Sweeney opened the Equine Medical Center, Lakeville, MN.

After he was seriously injured in an accident in November 1997, Dr. William H. Sweeney sold his share of Bloomington Veterinary Hospital, PA, to his brother, Dr. James A. Sweeney; with Dr. James A. Sweeney becoming 100% owner of Bloomington Veterinary Hospital.

    Mission
An AAHA Certified Hospital, Bloomington Veterinary Hospital, P.A., is dedicated to providing superior medical service through the utilization of technology and specialists, continuing education of veterinarians and staff, and a genuine concern for the welfare of our patients and clients. We are committed to the improvement of the human-animal relationship in our community through preventive medicine and client education, as well as treatment of disease. We strive to provide the highest quality medical care for each patient and individual attention to each of our client's concerns.

    Services:

    24 Hour Professional Care
Bloomington Veterinary Hospital offers professional care 24 hours a day. A Veterinary Technician or Assistant monitors boarding animals and hospitalized patients around the clock.

    Boarding
The kennels at Bloomington Veterinary Hospital are equipped with the latest technology. We offer large canine runs, canine cages and a separate area for feline boarding. We also offer a specialized room for exotic species of pets. Each boarding area has a separate ventilation system and individual temperature control. While boarding your pet, you may elect to have your pet bathed with our hydro-surge bath system or have their nails trimmed. All boarding pets must be current on their distemper combo, rabies and bordetella(kennel cough)vaccines at least 1 week prior to their reservation.

    Surgery
We perform many routine and specialized surgeries, including but not limited to: spay/neuters, bone and knee repairs, and eye surgery. Our surgical suite is a specialized facility used only for surgeries with its own temperature control system, separate ventilation, sophisticated lighting and monitoring systems, including an ECG (electrocardiograph) and pulse oximeter. Our latest advancement in surgical technique is our laser system. Please ask our staff about the benefits of laser procedures.

    Digital Radiology
X-rays and ultrasonography are important diagnostic tools used by our veterinarians to detect certain problems and diseases such as hip dysplasia, bladder stones and foreign objects. Our skilled and qualified staff perform and process our own in-house digital x-rays, assuring the quickest diagnosis possible.

    Dentistry
A complete dental program is essential to your pet's health and well-being. Tartar buildup, tooth decay and gingivitis are conditions which may be associated and/or lead to heart, liver and kidney failure. We offer dental x-rays and other special equipment necessary for routine cleanings, extractions, and periodontal work that can help prolong the life of your pet. We also offer a full line of pet dental care products for routine home preventative care.

    Annual Examinations & Vaccines
The best treatment for any potentially fatal disease or chronic condition is to maintain an on-going relationship with your veterinarian. Annual examinations are the cornerstone of any preventative medicine program. Ask one of our staff members about which vaccines and tests are recommended for your pet.

    Clinical Pathology
Our Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT) are trained to perform laboratory tests which aid in the diagnosis of medical and surgical problems. Heartworm tests, urinalysis, cultures, blood tests and fecal analysis are just a few examples of the many tests we offer.

    CardioPet
Cardiopet is a service that allows us to send a recording of your pet's heartbeat over the phone to a Veterinary Cardiologist who can evaluate it and consult with us about diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of any abnormalities present.

    Grooming
Regular grooming is essential for the health of your pet, both inside and out. A clean, well-groomed pet makes for a happier companion and shows how much they are loved. If too much time passes between grooms, visits can become uncomfortable and unpleasant. By not grooming regularly, your pet could encounter matting (mild to severe), skin problems, fleas, ticks and sore inflamed eyes from normal drainage adhering under them causing infection. Feet can become sore and irritated from walking on nails and pads that have been neglected. Ear care is also a vital part of regular grooming; clean ears are healthy ears. Having your pet groomed regularly is an excellent way you can give your pet the pampering they deserve.

    Boutique
Our boutique includes all sorts of unique items such as pet toothbrushes, collars and Gentle leaders, leashes, chews, pet vitamins and more. We also offer a full line of Hill's Science Diet, Prescription Diet and maintenance foods.

    Microchip Identification
Microchipping is very popular and does not require surgery. If a microchipped pet becomes lost, the microchip reveals necessary information to the humane society, canine patrol or another animal hospital and can quickly reunite a lost pet with it's owner. Talk to one of our staff members for more benefits of microchipping.

S.S. We did lots of research on vets, and we decided on VCA Bloomington. We just had our first visit for our puppy and everyone was SO incredibly helpful, caring and friendly! All of our questions were answered with thoughtfulness and kindness. We are very happy we chose this vet clinic, and we are excited to continue our puppy journey knowing we are in great hands!
P.H. I love VCA Bloomington! I have only had positive experiences! The doctors, techs, and receptionists are all friendly. I trust my pets to Dr. Geske, Dr. Gustafson, and Dr. Liu. Recently, Dr. Geske was able to see my dog right away and diagnosed him with glaucoma. The staff really loves animals!
P.M. I have taken my pets to vca Bloomington for years. I always appreciate their tender touch, diagnosis with understandable definition and treatment options. Three pets have been put to sleep at Bloomington vca the compassion and care given made my loss a little bit easier. Dr Geske is fabulous.
