Dogs:
For susceptible infections: a) 20 - 25 mg/kg IM, IV q6-8h (Vaden and Papich 1995)
b) 10 - 30 mg/kg IM, IV or SQ (Riviere 1989)
c) 11 - 33 mg/kg IV q8h; 22 - 33 mg/kg IM or SQ q8h (Aronson and Aucoin 1989)
For surgical prophylaxis (soft-tissue):
a) 20 mg/kg IV before and then every 2.5 hours during surgery (Rosin et al. 1988)
Cats:
For susceptible infections: a) 20 - 25 mg/kg IM, IV q6-8h (Vaden and Papich 1995)
b) 10 - 30 mg/kg IM, IV or SQ (Riviere 1989)
