Animal Care Center of Chaffee County is a full-service animal hospital treating small animals and horses. In addition to preventative medicine and routine surgery, our veterinarians provide extensive dentistry, acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. We also offer laboratory screening and diagnostic x-rays.
Animal Care Center is conveniently located off County Road 120 in Poncha Springs, Colorado and serves the greater Chaffee County area - including Salida and Buena Vista. In 1998, Dr. Janet Varhus joined with Dr. Hutchinson, one of the original veterinarians in the Arkansas Valley. As the practice grew, we moved into our new facility in October 2001, becoming Animal Care Center. As our way of committing to quality pet care, we have been voluntarily accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association since August 2002.
In addition to Dr. Varhus, Dr. Mary Hopkins joins us seasonally, and Dr. Jill Lang practices part-time.
