Pet Samaritan Clinic was established in the 1900's to care for horses that pulled trolleys from the Willamette River into the Portland residential area. Nearly 100 years later, the clinic remains in its original location on East Burnside in Portland, Oregon.

Today Pet Samaritan is a full service veterinary clinic treating birds, cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, barnyard poultry and pocket pets including hamsters, rats, mice and gerbils. We are certified in the performance of ultrasounds and offer acupuncture as well.

E.E. Chowder is just thrilled every time we go visit her friends at Pet Sam! This crew is so talented and caring that she never seems to realize she is there for shots or pokes and prods (they are very gentle, this is the whole reason we’re there! ). Every person from checkin and reception to the techs and vets have been helpful, thoughtful, and focused on preventative care and Chowder’s wellness.

K.P. Everyone was so nice and Rosie my dog was so nervous but stopped shaking as soon as the treats came out and everyone did their best to get on her level and go at her pace. She definitely made friends and left there as a happy pup. They were great in every way!

S.P. My dog started have seizures so I brought her here, this place was hands down the most caring and cost effective. I highly recommend this vet.

G.K. It is hard to get an appointment in a timely manner right now and have had to go to the ER vet a few diffrent times due to not being able to get in within a few days or even a week. It seems like some of the vets are very experienced and some are not. Pleasant staff and unpleasant staff. It is good to be diverse. Some good vets. Parking is street parking and a limited parking lot. It can be hard to find a parking spot. Prices are reasonable.

R.F. I took my tabby(Pax) for a check up and his first shot. Follow up appointment for booster and rabies shot next month. Needs to be neutered. Easy to get to on the Burnside bus line.

A.M. They were so sweet with my kitty! Shes a bit overweight and they were so kind about it and helped me come up with a plan to help slim her down. Excellent vets and excellent front desk! The prices seemed alright too, though I'm not super familiar with vet pricing. When I came it was around 70 for a new patient appointment.

M.T. Wonderful clinic! Compassionate, friendly and efficient.. I was able to get in next day as a new client when my dog wasn't feeling well. The vet tech and veterinarian were very friendly, caring and helpful. The vet was able to diagnose the issue without a lot of expensive testing and provide medications with detailed instructions upon departure.
