C.C. This place is amazing! I have budgies/parakeets and I couldn't find an Avian vet here in Lexington, KY anywhere. I called a referral service and they referred me to Dr. Blair. He specializes in exotics including birds. Was very kind, gentle with my bird (Pepsi), incredibly informative and very patient with all of my questions.. My baby blue little chicken bird was not doing well at all. We're still doing the antibiotics and not quite 100% but Pepsi is doing MUCH better. He's eating, drinking and asking to come out of the cage again. Before, he just sat fluffy near his heater and was just miserable. No chirps, no moving around and sadly lethargic. It was really touch and go. :( We were hoping for the best but expecting a not so happy outcome.. So thankful for Dr. Blair and his staff that we discovered them before the inevitable happened. Was expecting to pay a fortune because Clays Mill is the only Avian vet around here but with the office visit, physical exam, culture lab, antibiotics and teaching me how to administer it, the cost was only a little over $200.. Some vets are not so nice with their prices or their care but for this vet clinic's hospitality, genuine concern and warmth, I would have gladly paid more. Full recommendation for any animal and their person. ?.
J.E. We had a curbside vet visit yesterday, and our 13 year old daughter whose cat was being seen and who is also the toughest of all of us to please, made the pronouncement that that was the best vet visit she had ever experienced. She is very discerning of people and sees things most would miss.. I realized that she was absolutely right. Normally after vet visits, I feel awful from the stress and unhappiness of the experience of feeling like I am fighting for my pet's wellness and also now our safety due to Covid exposure concerns. Our entire family has been permanently and severely disabled from long-Covid, including our daughter, due to the "mild" case of Covid we got in February of 2020. We have a really difficult time finding safe places for medical care for us and our pets that keeps our exposure of getting Covid again down to a minimum. We have to stay self isolated as much as possible.. Clays Mill made everything so easy, safe, and pleasant that I actually felt happy after it was done, and it was evident that our daughter's cat was happy too. He is normally stressed after visits at other vets, but he apparently had a wonderful time. I think he thought it was a play time visit rather than a vet visit.. So here are the big things for us that we noticed:. * Everyone was very kind, well mannered, and listened closely to what we said.. * Everyone wore masks and followed the promised Covid safety precautions. (We have had multiple previous vets promise safety, and then not do anything they promised. ). * Everything was organized, efficient, and reasonably priced.. * Dr. Blair's diagnosis was spot on and based off the available information at hand. He also made sure we had all information that had been discussed by the end of that day. (The first opinion we had gotten from another vet was not based on the evidence which was immensely frustrating to us. ). * Last but not least, our cat came back happy as a clam and smelling exactly the same as he did when he went in for the appointment. One of our family pet peeves is that all previous vets we have used have so much perfume that our animals end up smelling horrific afterwards. We find it unpleasant, and I can't imagine how painful it is for them with their even more sensitive senses of smell.. I am so glad we switched to this vet. We used them for boarding our dog several years ago when they offered that service, and our dog adored them. Apparently their veterinary care is just as exceptional!
L.H. I'm not easily impressed, but the folks at Clays Mill have been truly lovely and helpful. I especially appreciate their willingness to discuss things with me. They really helped me out with my cat's recent health emergency..
C.R. Dr. Blair always takes good care of Dusty. This was my first time back since the pandemic, and I was happy to be able to have my baby cared for by such a wonderful vet!
P.C. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. They have taken care of all of my animals over the past 10 years and have been simply amazing. Unfortunately we just had to put down our 15-year-old beagle last Saturday and the staff and doctor just went above and beyond to Make this horrible experience as comfortable as possible. Their staff even stayed late on Saturday so we could spend more time with Jackson after they had administered the solution. We never felt rushed and it was just as good as it could have possibly been. I will never take any animal I ever own anywhere other than this place the staff and doctors here are simply phenomenal. You could tell they truly care about you and your pets.
J.S. Cannot believe I have not reviewed clays Mill vet clinic yet, have been our preferred location to have our dogs vetted for years now. Only that but they have saved one of our greyhounds from certain death. This is a wonderful caring group of people it was out of their way everyday to make sure your animals are safe and sound and healthy. Whether it be basic vetting, life-saving vetting, this is definitely the place that we would rely on for our animals care.. love the whole staff and thank you all very much for your years of service.
J.H. I've had my corgi, Dani since she was re-homed to me about 6 or 7 years ago. I believe I've been taking her to Clay's Mill Vet Clinic for about a year and a half. The staff at CMVC always seem so busy, but that doesn't stop them from going above and beyond to care for their patients. She has a tear duct that doesn't produce tears. It's painful, and frustratingly persistant. She also struggles with itchy hives caused by grass allergies. I'm lucky that I have them to help take care of my girl. I work with animals myself and I wouldn't trust her to just anyone. Dr. Blair and Dr. Frabel are both fantastic doctors. Dani is a sweet lady-corgi with manners, so I appreciate that they've always been very gentle with her. She gets a thorough exam everytime she comes to see them. You can tell that everyone there really cares about the animals. Dani still doesn't like going to the vet, but she always gives kisses when she's done. That makes me think she trusts them too.
