Friendly staff ,devoted dr.topk our cat home with him to monitor.
We just had to put our dog down this week and it was a horrible experience.
This is now my preferred place to get medical care for my pets.

Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in 1974 , which was the first AAHA accredited hospital in South Dakota. At that time, Dr. Mortimer worked with only one assistant. As a result of the success of CLVH and increased demand for high quality care, our hospital family has grown to 2 Veterinarians, 4 Registered Veterinary Technicians, a Veterinary Assistant, a Receptionist, and a Kennel Attendant.

It is with great pride and much hard work that we earned accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Less than 5% of all animal hospitals in the country are AAHA accredited. In order to remain part of this elite group, we must keep the highest of standards and endure rigorous onsite inspections. CLVH was awarded a 25 yr. Standards of Excellence in June of 2001.

Our mission is to provide exceptional pet care at a fair cost, to provide the highest quality, individualized care to our clients and their pets and to maintain a courteous and professional atmosphere which promotes mutual respect between clients and staff. By demonstrating pride in our work and using a team approach to educate our clients in the importance of preventive medicine, we will promote both human and animal well-being.

W.K. Great as usual even in our dogs final moments. They took excellent care of our dog for many many years. Always showed so much compassion everytime we took the little guy in. During the initial consult and knee surgery after, Dr. Sabrina and staff were very good at explaining what to expect. His recovery is going really well. We are new in town, we recently moved here from Texas, when our dog Spook got very sick with an infection. Dr. Serena took all the time needed to assess him and each staff member made us feel welcome and went above and beyond. We received follow up calls every day. The staff is truly concerned about the well being of our little boy. What impressed me the most is how welcome and deeply caring everyone is. This is not just a "job" but a true calling for the team at Canyon Lake. We couldn't be in better hands! H. Wonderful place is very caring staff that welcome you with a smile on their face every time you enter their office. The vets genuinely care about the animals and want to help in anyway to give your pet the best and longest life it can have. Highly recommend this business if you’re looking for a vet in the Black Hills.

J.F. We originally chose Canyon Lake Vet after finding them as the only recommended vet for bunnies in the Rapid City area through Rabbits USA magazine. I wouldn't recommend any other vet! They have cared and spayed/ neutered all our bunnies and always take amazing care of our fur babies. We take both of our adopted pups here too.. When ever Dr. Nick or Serena see us, they always answer all 100 of my questions without hesitation. They speak to me in terms that I can follow and understand so I can give my babies the best care that I possibly can. The vet techs are amazing, they treat your babies like their own.

A Google review is a pretty small medium to express how awesome everyone at Canyon Lake Vet Hospital has been to my cats, and me and my wife, over the last few years since we moved back to Rapid City. The doctors and staff know what they are doing, and treat our cats and us with empathy. We lost a cat a few years ago and they helped us through it better than I could have thought. Recently one of our cats has had some health issues and they have given the best care to him, and been open with us during the whole process while still treating us with care.. I cannot recommend everyone at Canyon Lake Vet Hospital enough. You won't regret it if you make this place your veterinary home.
