Doses - IMIPRAMINE HCL, IMIPRAMINE PAMOATE

Dogs: Dog

a) For urethral incompetence: 5 - 15 mg PO q12h (Labato 1994)
b) For cataplexy: 0.5 - 1 mg/kg tid PO; titrate dose based on clinical effect. (Fenner 1994)
c) For adjunctive treatment of separation anxiety or other tricyclic antidepressant-responsive behavior disorders: 2.2 - 4.4 mg/kg PO once to twice daily. (Marder 1991)

Cats: Cat

a) For urethral incompetence: 2.5 - 5 mg PO q12h (Labato 1994)
Monitoring Parameters - 1) Efficacy; 2) Adverse Effects
Client Information - All tricyclics should be dispensed in child-resistant packaging and kept wellaway from children or pets. Inform clients that several weeks may be required before efficacy isnoted and to continue dosing as prescribed.
