S.D. It's probably a little too early to make a review seeing as I have not yet brought my dog in to see anyone, but I wanted to write a quick review about the amazing receptionist I spoke with on the phone Breishia. She was so sweet, calm, informative, upfront, and comforting on the phone. I already loved her demeanor but she then referred to my dog as "baby" and I felt even more so like I would be in good hands.. I'm grateful for this experience and I feel a lot better about choosing VCA to help Hoku on this journey. Thank you Breishia!
    D. VCA Veterinarians were highly recommended both in profession and heartfelt care, by our utmost caring regular veterinarian Dr Scott Harada. VCA Drs may excel in what they do, however there was no real care shown for both the pet and the pet’s owners in the way of no follow up calls (cancer pet patient), no/late return calls, no reassurance in follow up help with any pet issues, which would have made a big difference in this review. 2/19/23.
A.F. We strongly recommend continuing care here.. Our beloved senior cat Princeton is incredibly shy. We greatly appreciate the understanding staff, who are careful and sensitive to his special needs. We believe they strike a balance between what is urgent and what can wait. They suggest timelines, explain urgency and provide a variety of alternatives to achieve needed test results, and when his most recent emergency left us wondering how we could continue to provide follow up care they suggested the Senior Cat Care Club Program, which has since more than paid for itself in just the first few months, but allows us to make manageable monthly payments.. We'd like to send a special shout out to Dr. Lauren Kishimoto for providing such superior care to Princeton and to his worried humans. After appointment conversations are comprehensive and thorough, and detailed paperwork sent home always helps me to feel as if I understand what happened, how he did and why. We also very much appreciate the staff calling the day after to check in after his most recent dental and follow up urinalysis appt. We are sure to implement their suggestions on how to help Princeton feel more calm during his trips to and from the vet.. Pictures of his gleaming teeth flash through my mind each time I hear him happily crunch through his food. I feel assured that his improved dental health will help him to lead a longer, happier, pain free life.. First Review (Last quarter of 2022). 10 Stars! Our hopes and expectations were exceeded in every way.. Our beloved cat, Princeton, arrived half sedated with a catheter in his arm from another vet that was unable to resolve his life threatening urinary blockage. We feared the worst, and then the incredible staff of Pearl City VCA swung into action.. The emergency intake process was thorough and yet completed quickly. The staff were welcoming, calming and professional. In the four days that Princeton was at this large and well equipped facility the communication with his doctors was scheduled and regular. Thank you to each doctor who made it possible for Princeton to be with us today. Each doctor took their time answering our many questions which ultimately helped us to hope for the very best. Many thanks also to the awesome technicians who took such excellent care of our beloved cat and who helped facilitate our daily visits in a private room and especially to the financial advisors who made discussing and understanding treatment costs and options simple and low stress during this very difficult time.. While prices may be higher for this large and well appointed facility that is available 24 hours, we ended up paying thousands of dollars less than we expected and even received a sizable refund from our deposit. Thank you to the patient program that made this possible.. Most importantly, Princeton is at home again where he is eating and recovering well. We look forward to being cared for by this clinic hospital for many more years. We highly recommend.. The picture shows Princeton recovering from his kidney stone removal surgery. Day 1 of being home again.
D.M. This place is an excellent clinic. When we arrived with our dog, Shauna at the front desk was professional, kind and is very good at listening and communicating the details to the vet techs and doctors right away. I hope the VCA will give her a raise and a big bonus because she went above and beyond to treat each patient and family there with genuine respect. Shauna, the vet techs and the doctors at this clinic prioritize patient care over making excessive amounts of money from their patients, a rare trait in many hospitals for humans and pets.
    E. I got home one day and my cat had thrown up and couldn’t move. I quickly googled 24/7 emergency vets and this one was rated the best. I called them and asked if we could get him in. They said no problem and were super upfront about cost before I even got there! That is awesome. You don’t always see that at places.. The moment I pulled up, three people rushed out to my car and quickly got him into the hospital and in front of the doctor. Within two minutes, the doctor had figured out the problem and let me know the best options moving forward. Within moments a financial coordinator gave me a run down of pricing and was super upfront and honest about the cost. They calculate an estimate for your approval. As with all medical care, the price can fluctuate depending on what is needed so they calculate a high estimate and a low estimate. My cat’s medical aid ended up being right in between the high and low estimate.. My cat ended up needing to stay there for about 48 hours. And they called me multiple times a day to update me on his status. In the end they sent me home with medication and some samples of the type of food he should be eating.. It’s expensive, but that’s to be expected for emergency room visits. You get what you pay for and this place is the best. At the end of the day, you can’t put a price on saving your fur baby’s life. I highly suggest for anyone with pets to save up a decent amount of coin for emergencies.. I want to thank each and every one of you at VCA for saving my cat’s life ❤️.
C.B. Our cat, Margot, recently had a terrible accident while trying to jump up onto a kitchen counter. Long story short, her back leg got caught on a drawer handle, and she ended up fracturing all four metatarsals.. We initially took her to the nearest 24 hour veterinary ER (VERCA in ala moana). They did the best they could, but when all four bones of the foot are fractured clean across, it's very unlikely for them to heal in-place without corrective surgery.. Unfortunately, there's a definite shortage of veterinary surgeons on Oahu, at the moment (only two, if I recall correctly). Because of this, we didn't exactly have the luxury of choosing Margot's surgeon. However, after our experience with this clinic, I'd choose Dr. Lam again in a heartbeat.. This place seems abundantly staffed. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and attentive, and I was regularly called with updates on how Margot was doing. I really felt that she was in good hands the entire time, and the transparency with which they talked about the procedure and her care was refreshing.. She took to the procedure very well, it seems! Although she still has weeks of recovery to endure, the future's looking bright for Margot. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking good care of her. Hopefully we never need surgical care for a pet again, but I find comfort in knowing that there are good people we can turn to.
