Dr. Paul J. Francois opened General Booth Veterinary Hospital in 1991 with one thing in mind: to offer quality animal care to the Southside of Virginia Beach. In designing this facility, he worked closely with the historic review board of Virginia Beach due to the hospital's close proximity to Nimmo Church. After opening, he was awarded the "Best Commercial Development" award from the city of Virginia Beach. Since opening, Dr. Francois has added five more veterinarians and now has a staff of 24 employees, all of whom treat every one of our patients as if they were their own pets. Our goal is always to treat all of our patients and their parents with compassion and dignity and to adhere to the highest standards of care.

M.C. The front staff is always so nice and helpful. Dr. Wood and the staff in the back pay attention to every concern I have and answer all of my questions. Reagan gets a thorough exam and he is very comfortable with all of the staff. I found your clinic through Nextdoor Neighbor. They were giving you high praise and I have not been disappointed. H.P. Doctor and techs were all pleasant even though my cat was not very cooperative. I was given good, clear instructions on how and when to help as well as what to do following visit. My cat over all seemed less stressed during and after this visit than at our previous vet office. Very glad we made the change.

B.S. Courteous, kind and professional staff. They cared for our last cat from kittehood to end of her life, about 8 years ago. This was the first veterinary group II thought to take our newly adopted kitten to and her first checkup went really well. I look forward to partnering with the practice to help keep our newest family member happy and healthy, hopefully for many years to come. I highly recommend General Booth Veterinary.

K.S. I needed a new vet for my older maltipoo closer to my home. We were warmly welcomed as new patients. The office is super inviting and clean. The staff is polite and helpful. They have a keurig and complimentary coffee which is wonderful. Dr Keller paid close attention to the medical records and spent a lot of time with us. The vet tech and nurse was very loving and caring with my dog. We didn’t wait long for anything unlike our last vet office. They were transparent with all costs, procedures, and billing. They genuinely care about animals. I will be referring anyone who needs a vet to them. They’re simply wonderful!

K.P.H. GBVH is a wonderful resource for pet parents. The staff is caring and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The appointments are well scheduled and on time. While we have worked with several of the veterinarians and would recommend any, it is nice to be able to work more consistently with one when possible. Dr. Elliott is the most amazing veterinarian we have ever entrusted our pets to. Her calm and kind demeanor, her straightforward approach to treatment, her knowledge and expertise in medical issues and options, and her willingness to explain and answer questions in an unhurried visit all add up to a gold standard of care. GBVH seems to truly care about the pets entrusted to them and the families who place that trust.

D.B. This review is long overdue and I'm sorry for that! General Booth saw our sweet Sampson last year with concerns about a spot that wasn't going away. That spot and two others we and they found had to be surgically removed and tested.. I'm beyond thankful for how well they treated him. He is a wonderfully sweet guy and deserves all the kindness in the world. He is also a big oaf and I have seen so many people from other places get very impatient with him. General Booth was kind, caring, patient, and treated our boy so incredibly well. Thank you so very much!
