Services
Orthopedic SurgeryDr. Wittke provides orthopedic services for patients in need including referrals from other area clinics. Services include cranial cruciate ligament repair, correction of medial patellar luxation and fracture repair using plates and screws, external fixateurs, or intramedullary pins.

General Elective Surgery Procedures include spays, neuters, declaws, and growth removals with appointments available three days a week. These procedures can be performed with a laser and most do not require overnight hospitalization.

Laser Technology A CO2 laser can be used for all surgeries in place of a traditional scalpel blade to minimize the tearing, crushing, and bruising of tissue. This allows for less pain, bleeding, swelling, and redness post-operatively helping your pet feel more comfortable and reducing the risk of infection.

Dental Prophylaxis ultrasonic dental scaling and polishing removes years of plaque and tarter build up restoring healthy teeth and gums, reducing mouth odors, and helps to prevent serious internal issues such as kidney, liver, and heart disease. The state of the art dental scaler used at BGVC is designed with a new technology that creates significantly less heat and will not damage the tooth enamel as some ultrasonic scalers can. We also use a reciprocating, air powered polisher which does not produce heat. A high speed drill is used for complicated extractions if needed.

Radiology An in-house x-ray machine provides rapid insight to possible structural and internal damages, abnormalities, or obstructions and proves to be a very useful diagnostic tool.
Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Dr. Wittke is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and endorser of alternative and integrative medicine. This ancient Chinese approach can be used towards many medical problems including pain, immune deficiency, internal organ dysfunction, and muscular issues. His continuing education continues to broaden the scope of alternatives for treatment of each individual patient.

In-House and Overnight Lab Analysis In-house labwork can be utilized for Pre-Anesthetic Blood Panels, Glucose, Lasercyte CBC, Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia/Anaplasmosis (4DX), Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and Parvovirus for results in minutes to quickly begin treatment and to minimize overnight hospitalization. Other panels and lab diagnostic needs are analyzed through an outside lab with results often returning within one business day.

Video Otoscopy A video otoscope (VetScope) allows for a more thorough ear examination and cleaning for advanced infections and blockages. The otoscope projects video onto a large computer screen capturing images from the external canal to the tympanic membrane (ear drum). Attachments to this otoscope allow the ear drum to be pierced to treat and infuse medication into the middle and inner ear if needed.

Boarding Current patients are welcome to board with us anytime. Dogs are let out three times a day to run in our exercise yard and are housed in spacious runs and cages. We invite clients to bring any food, toys, treats, or blankets to make their pets feel more comfortable while away from home. Space is limited so advance notice is required especially during the summer, holidays, and school breaks.

M.M. I cannot recommend this clinic enough. I acquired a kitten who had been found alone in the woods at 6 weeks old. She was covered in fleas and we had no other information about her or her health. I called many veterinary clinics in a panic trying to get an appointment ASAP to assess and treat her. After getting rejected from multiple vet clinics in the greater Lafayette area and told I would have to wait weeks or months for availability, I called Battle Ground Veterinary Clinic and they got her in the next day. They treated her like she was family and were extremely kind to me as well. They were extremely helpful in answering my many questions and keeping both me and my kitten at ease. And at every appointment since, they have made sure my sweet kitty was extremely well loved on and healthy. From the office staff to the vet techs to the veterinarians themselves, everybody has been amazing. I cannot say enough about the level of professionalism and genuine care they have for your pet.

D.L. Took my Leo in because his ear was bothering him. they understood his breed, how he might nip them. they cleaned his ears and gave his medicine to him. they explained everything they did. we will follow up in 3 weeks!

The quality of care and dedicated work the vets and employees have in specializing in what they do everyday, the passion of animals. Lovely people making each visit comfortable and at ease, especially in the most traumatic of situations. The cost is greatly cheaper than any other. They gave us a way to sign up to be able to get help with our bill as well.

S.S. The care my kitty received here was extraordinary. I initially had an appointment later in the week, but after I told them what was going on, they got me in the next day with at no extra cost. During my time there, I interacted with Cindy, Beau, Sarah, and Carol. They assessed my kitty and discovered the problem right away. From there, they made sure to educate me on the procedure and kept me updated. I left my kitty there overnight feeling extremely confident that she was in good hands. I am so thankful for the team at this clinic, and specifically the 4 staff members I worked with. I can’t recommend this clinic enough.
