Doses - TRIAMCINOLONE ACETONIDE

Dogs: Dog

For glucocorticoid effects:
a) 0.25 - 2 mg PO once daily for 7 days; 0.11 - 0.22 mg/kg IM or SQ. (Kirk 1989)
b) 0.11 - 0.22 mg/kg PO, IM or SQ once daily. (Jenkins 1985)
c) For tablets: 0.11 mg/kg PO initially once a day, may increase to 0.22 mg/kg PO oncedaily if initial response is unsatisfactory. As soon as possible, but not later than 2 weeks, reduce dose gradually to 0.028 - 0.055 mg/kg/day. (Booth 1988), (Package insert;

d) For injectable product: 0.11 - 0.22 mg/kg for inflammatory or allergic disorders, and0.22 mg/kg for dermatological disorders. Effects generally persist for 7-15 days; ifsymptoms recur, may repeat or institute oral therapy.
For intralesional injection: Usual dose is 1.2 - 1.8 mg; inject around lesion at 0.5 - 2.5cm intervals. Do not exceed 0.6 mg at any one site or 6 mg total dose. May repeat asnecessary. (Package insert; Vetalog® Injection¯Solvay)
e) As an antiinflammatory agent: 0.05 mg/kg PO bid-tid (Morgan 1988)

Cats: Cat

For glucocorticoid effects:
a) 0.25 - 0.5 mg PO once daily for 7 days. (Kirk 1989)

a) 0.5 - 1.0 mg/kg PO once a day. (Knaack 1988)

Cattle: Cattle

For glucocorticoid effects:
a) 0.02 - 0.04 mg/kg IM; 6 - 18 mg intra-articularly. (Howard 1986)

Horses: Horse

For glucocorticoid effects:
a) 0.1 - 0.2 mg/kg IM or SQ; 3 - 6 mg subconjunctivally. (Robinson 1987)
b) 0.011 - 0.022 mg/kg PO bid;0.011 - 0.022 mg/kg IM or SQ;6 - 18 mg intra-articularly or intrasynovially, may repeat after 3-4 days; (Package inserts; Vetalog® Powder and Injection¯Solvay)
