was established in 1973 as a large and small animal practice. Dr. Michael Scott joined the practice in 1979 and took over the practice on January 24, 1984. To keep up with changing demands, Dr. Scott gradually transitioned Potomac Animal Hospital into an exclusively small animal practice.

Dr. Scott purchased the property and house adjacent to the hospital building in 1993 making way for plans to expand the hospital and build a boarding kennel. Finally, on November 3, 1997 we broke ground for the expansion and our first new boarders came on Thanksgiving in 1998.

For many years Dr. Scott was the sole veterinarian. As the practice began to grow the need for another veterinarian arose. In 1999, Dr. Scott's son, Dr. Jason Scott, joined the practice as a full time veterinarian.

Potomac Animal Hospital is a full service small animal hospital with boarding, grooming, radiology, laboratory, dentistry, surgery, well pet care, special need animal care and geriatrics amongst other services.

Potomac Animal Hospital has been a member of the American Animal Hospital Association since 1987.

M.S. Doctors, technicians, groomers, and front desk personnel are first rate, professional, and friendly. Dogs have been a part of my family for over 60 years. This is the finest veterinary practice I have ever had the pleasure of bringing my pups to!

J.W. I moved here four years ago and my elderly dog has received the best care since we arrived. My sister recommended and we are so happy! The staff is and very welcoming, kind and knowledgeable . Dr. Jason Scott and Dr. Harris are very caring and take the time to explain what is going on and their advice is never about pushing medications or procedures. I completely trust this practice and appreciate all of the care my dog has received! The groomers are also the best in this area! Ken knows exactly how to groom Teddy!

There’s never a long wait, people try to get you in to see the doctor as quickly as possible, the staff knows The clients and the animals, every diagnosis and prescription for treatment has been excellent, they are always very very upfront about the cost of any treatment before it is given and most importantly they absolutely love their patients and owners Who are treated truly like family. Dr. Jason Scott is totally exceptional in his expertise professionalism and care. T.W. I have been taking my dogs here for almost 20 years. From new puppy vaccinations to, sadly, permanent rest, and everything in between, I have anyways received excellent personalized service. I like being able to take my dogs to the same place for boarding, grooming, and wellness; its so much less stressful on my dogs when they are familiar with the facility. They also have everything I need for my dogs including a large selection of food, lots of different toys and treats and grooming products!

E.N. About two years ago I adopted an older dog with some serious health issues. Under Dr. Morrow's care, my dog's long-standing health issues have been managed and/or resolved. Most recently, she found and successfully removed a small cancerous tumor from his leg, for which I am so grateful. She also takes great care of my cat and makes visits with both animals easy for us. The staff is kind, the facility is clean, and the fees are more than reasonable.
