M.G. Expensive as most Bay Area Vets and a bit inconvenient. Better as a Hospital than ordinary Vet. Takes a couple months sometimes just for a check up. Staffing has been inconsistent but we are coming out of COVID. Why then 4 stars? The doctors will do an excellent job of supporting the decision process regarding your pets care. Informative and caring.. the entire team deserves an a top grade. I am sure they will navigate they way to being 5 stars across the board. Look for an update in 2024.
J.B. I was so thankful to be able to make a same day appt. for our sick cat. The staff were professional, supportive, and gave clear information. The Dr was welcoming and we left feeling confident that our cat would have good care.
K.C. Everyone has been kind and supportive. It was easy to make a timely appointment and we were seen on time. Dr. Demirdjian was kind, knowledgeable, and had time and answers for all my questions. It was not good news, and both the doctor and the tech/nurse Jen were compassionate. Dr D called me with test results the following day and again was kind and answered questions, did not rush me. I was really impressed.
G.D. I absolutely adore the team at Berkeley Dog & Cat. They have been incredibly reliable and kind to my dog for the last few years. Every time he'd get injured or even if we didn't know what was going on, their calm approach to treatment put us at ease. At one point during the pandemic, despite long lines for the emergency services, they met with us at 2am to diagnose an issue with his persistent swollen paw - a few hours later, they told us they'd pulled out several cactus thorns! I would not hesitate to recommend this vet to friends because I know they show the same kindness and patience with every pet.
    G. All the vets here I've had experiences with have been kind and spent a lot of time answering my questions and coming up with the best plan for my pets' care. The vet techs/assistants have also been great. My dog who is normally extremely anxious at the vet calms down quickly here because everyone treats her with patience and gentleness and earns her trust before forcing her into situations that scare her. She is 16 and has literally been muzzled at other places and never once here because they take their time and their energy is so calm and gentle towards her that she just relaxes quickly and trusts them. I'm so glad to have this place within walking distance. The wait times are worth it for the level of care.
S.C. We took our 13 year old dog for a dental consultation - Dr John Traversi was so professional, kind and gentle - We love him!
P.C. High quality care by the vets. They're knowledgeable and they go to the max to insure all avenues have been explored and considered. It's a bit pricey. But this should encourage pet parents to provide insurance for their furry children. The staff is personable and supportive. I hope Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital continues to maintain high standards for the sake of our beloved pet children.
C.B.F. Our little 10 yr 10 lb terrier mix is a super active dude, the man of the house who loves to chase squirrels, rats, moles, and had on occasion succeeded in his hunts on all of these. He can hike miles on end, except when it's too hot. Well, the age and arthritis has been setting in and he over did some of his acrobatic maneuvers, and ended up of serious pain. Poor guy could not even lay down comfortably and spent the night panting in pain. We called Sage Emergency at 2am and they determined he was "stable" and we should take him his regular vet-which is closed on weekends. We stayed up with him trying to comfort him, gave him CBDs, nothing worked. So we opted to take him to Berkeley Dog and Cat Urgent Care the next morning and Dr. Pearlstein was AMAZING! She was able to assess our guy, rule out the pain from existing kidney issues, and determined he basically tweaked his back in a couple areas. No need for expensive X-rays. She was able to provide him with manual manipulation, cold laser therapy, a few meds there and to take home, some hydration for his chronic kidney issues, made many suggestions for non-pharmological interventions that will aide in his healing. He came back home that same day, walking and wagging, and back to himself. The only challenge was to try to keep him from continuing his regular routine of acrobatics. This is an amazing experience, every thing was explained, options were offered simply, cost $400, did not break the bank and was about half the cost of what we would have paid at Sage for emergency care. We will always go here if we can.
